Large clock decorated with a figure of Marius contemplating the ruins of Cartage in patinated bronze. Yellow marble base decorated with a frieze of palmettes and a gilded bronze sceptre. Movement signed Hemon in Paris. Wire suspension. Early 19th century. Height: 60 cm - Width: 45 cm Depth: 22 cm Similar pendulum is part of the collections of the National Furniture (GML 235), another in those of the Malmaison. Claude Hémon, a Parisian watchmaker, settled in rue Saint-Martin between 1812 and 1820.
