APC José Desmarets (1925-2019), Belgian politician, former Minister of National Defence in 1979-1980, Deputy Prime Minister in 1979-1981, member of the House of Representatives, Member of Parliament for Brussels from 1971 to 1985, then member of the Senate from 1985 to 1987, town councillor and alderman of Uccle, he was a member of the Social-Christian Party. In 1982, with his father, he was recognized as "Righteous Among the Nations" by the Yad Vashem Memorial.
