Bavaria - Order of Merit of St. Michael, founded in 1693, reorganized in 1837, first class knight's cross of the first type (1837-1887), gold and enamel decorated in the center with the motto of the order "QUIS UT DEUS", the arms, enamelled midnight blue, adorned with the initials "PFFP" meaning "Principe Fidelis Favere Patria" (faithful to the prince to serve the fatherland), in the centre of the reverse the word "Virtuti", surmounted by an articulated crown, hallmark EQ of the goldsmith Eduard Quellhorst of Munich and 18 for the title (the crown slightly distorted), ribbon. In the original black chagrin violin case, stamped with the initials "St M.O.", label of the goldsmith Quellhorst. With the patent partly printed in German, seal on paper, dated 16 September 1868, and the announcement letter of the Bavarian Legation dated 22 September 1868. 64 x 39 mm, gross weight: 16 g Bavaria, ca. 1868.
