China - Order of the Double Dragon, founded in 1882, a jewel of the first type of IIIrd class of the Ist grade, of oblong shape with a gilt and enamel fretted border, in the center, between two dragons facing each other on a turquoise blue enamel background, a blue glass cabochon is set on a polychrome sun, around it, fourteen red stone cabochons. The legend in black enamelled Manchu characters on the vertical axis means above "given by the emperor of the great dynasty of the Tsing", below "3rd class, 1st grade", the one in gilded Han ideograms in the center "conferred imperial precious double dragon star", the reverse side uses the same composition without enamel or legend, night blue satin ribbon. In the original burgundy chagrin case with the legend "ORDER OF THE DOUBLE DRAGON III Cl. 1 Grade" stamped on the lid, signed by the London house "Goldsmith & Silversmith company" (missing). 74 x 47 mm United Kingdom, late 19th century.
