Jacques Auguste FAUGINET (1809-1847)
Male bust in plaster signed, titled "A. Guyot: architect" and dated 1845. Height: 34 cm Fauginet, sculptor and engraver in medals, enters in 1826 at the School of Fine Arts. A pupil of Gatteaux, in 1831 he won the second grand prize for sculpture. The same year, he made his debut at the Salon where he exhibited until 1846. He taught at the School of Fine Arts with Rude and had Charles Cordier as a pupil. We owe him in particular the bust of Marivaux at the Théâtre Français, the statue of Massillon for the Saint Sulpice fountain, the plaster bust of the Marquis de Beringhen, Brigadier-General of the King's armies.
