Pedestal table forming a trilan game table in maple veneer with inlaid decoration of palmettes, volutes and flowers, with numbers from 1 to 8. central revolving "Cassetin" with removable stopper, with eight compartments, decorated with four miniature medallions imitating antique cameos, diamond-shaped escutcheons with the arms of the Duchess of Berry, and the letter L in bronze. Eight-drawer opening belt. Fluted shaft with an indented triangular base decorated with three winged sphinxes in patinated bronze. Signed Alph. Giroux in Paris. Louis XVIII / Charles X period. (Small slits) Height: 83 cm - Diameter: 104 cm The store of tableware, curios and cabinetry founded by François-Simon-Alphonse Giroux around 1799 was active from the Consulate at the end of the Second Empire. Giroux participated in the Exhibition of Products of French Industry in 1839 where it was awarded a Silver Medal. Among the aristocratic clientele of the House of Alphonse Giroux were Louis XVIII, Charles X and the Duchess of Berry who used to shop there every year until her exile in 1830. There she acquired many precious objects and light wood furniture, which she launched the fashion for making gifts.
