A silver chatelaine decorated with a monogram MD on a blue enamel background in the centre of a cartouche with a young man with a dog and a young woman with a hawk holding a motif simulating a couple reading in a cloister, between two four-lobed medallions, supporting a watch key and a seal. The set is embellished with synthetic stones on pink foil. For the central motif, possible evocation of the story of Heloise and Abelard. Mid-19th century. (The blue enamel restored and damaged). Signed Froment Meurice, it bears the hallmark of Jules Wiese on the spatula. Height of the castelaine alone: 16 cm Total gross weight: 145 g (with the watch). A yellow gold neck watch with a pendant winding mechanism is attached to it, the enamelled caseback of a bezel partially set with rose-cut diamonds.
