Pair of large baluster-shaped vases in polychrome and gold porcelain decorated with bare bacchantes after Boucher and bouquets of flowers in four poly-lobed medallions on a blue background. Very rich gilt bronze frame with two handles in the shape of grape-pickers putti joined by garlands of flowers. Moving and openwork bases of rocaille bronzes.
The paintings are signed and dated: Eliza le Guay 1855.
Bronzes marked Victor Paillard.

Eliza Le Guay painter born in 1813, works mainly for the Sèvres factory. She died in 1887.
Victor Paillard, bronzier and sculptor born in 1805, collaborator of Barbedienne, creates his company in 1830. He exhibits regularly at the Salons and is a member of the jury of the Universal Exhibition of 1855. He was in charge of decorating the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs at the Quai d'Orsay. He was also Balzac's official supplier who wrote "Victor Paillard, the bronze-maker who is the Froment-Meurice of bronze". He died in 1886.
