An octagonal porcelain soup plate decorated in famille rose polychrome enamels with the coat of arms of the Hotham and Morley alliance in the centre with a lion's head and the motto "Have a care". The wing decorated with parakeets and acanthus leaves, butterfly and fisherman brandishing a sword. (Small chips at the edge). Diameter : 22 cm This plate was probably commissioned for Sir Richard Hotham who ran a dozen boats in Canton in 1765 and 1789.
