Buffet with a recessed front in burr amboyna veneer and gilded bronzes, opening with a drawer and two leaves, one with double development. White marble top. Stamped Chles Winckelsen 21 rue St Louis (Au marais) . Louis XVI style, after Adam Weisweiler or Godefroy Dester. Height : 93,5 cm - Width : 136,5 cm Depth : 55 cm Comparative bibliography : Maurice Segoura and Patricia Lemonier, Weisweiler, Monelle Hayot, Paris, 1983, pages 27 and 115. Another identical sideboard, stamped G. Dester, was part of the former collection of Lord Redesdale. Born in 1812, Charles-Guillaume Winckelsen was a brilliant cabinetmaker of the Second Empire, offering a wide range of products, from furniture to objets d'art, always executed with great care. He exhibited his work at the 1867 Universal Exhibition. His clientele came from both the aristocracy and high finance. At his death in 1871, Henry Dasson (1825-1896) bought the workshops and the stock from his widow.
