CHINA - Late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) Early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) Rectangular wooden table inlaid with mother-of-pearl rectangular medallions decorated with stylized flowers in foliage. The sides adorned with friezes of double grecques surmounting lotus flowers in their foliage and stylized motifs. (Lack of lacquer, feet enhanced). Height : 28 cm - Width : 77 cm Depth : 45 cm Height with highlights: 33.5 cm Below, a plaque bearing the inscription: "Campagne de Chine Table from the Summer Palace (Yuan-Ming-Yuan) From the Emperor of China in Peking Offered to Mr. Le Cte Léon de Bastard Secretary of the French Embassy By Mr. Smith Chief of Staff of the Expeditionary Corps October 1860" Provenance: descendants of Count Léon de Bastard.
